History - Past to Present:
|
Have performed with the St. Louis Metro Singers and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, two family theatre plays, an R & B band, a movie on NBC acting as a women fighting for her right to vote, invitee to sing for the Midwest Association for Music Therapy Convention (50th) celebration, and the percussion group, Joia on and off since 1998. I began my first vocal performance job in 1998 as an elvis back up singer and then was the lead singer for Paradise Orchestra from 1998 - 2002, working in the private circuit. My degree includes a basic music education including theory, with additional coursework in therapy. I take lessons on and off as the budget allows in keyboarding, guitar and drumming. Had a great experience in Joliet Illinois at the Janice Borla Jazz Camp doing advanced theory and vocal lead sheets, with a performance at the end. They are real pros!! I've had one year of classical voice training. My career took priority so performing had to wait until 2006, when I joined the R & B band. The persons I work with as a music therapist, are near and dear to my heart. It is an honor to serve others in a musical capacity, while putting my ego aside and hopefully lifting them up! The work I get to do everyday is an honor and a blessing. Our Sunday jam session is fun as it is about live music, and supporting others talents. I find I have to be very flexible and adaptable in this role. It's also fun working with the students that join us. Then, in 2007 I joined Joia, who I am still with but I'd like to expand to vocal and instrumental work. Thanks!
